BTC is the 2011 Athletics Ontario Provincial Youth 4 x 100M Relay Champions.

A team consisting of Jayden, Naomi, Nita, and Khamica set an Ontario 4 x100M relay record in a time of 46.27.

A quartet of Brampton runners representing Team Ontario won the gold medal in the women�s 4 x 100 metre relay at the Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships held recently in Winnipeg.
The team, made up of Sade Lewis, Simone Martin, Naomi Kerr and Jonelle Bell-Spence raced to a time of 47.84 seconds, Second-place Manitoba was timed in 48.45.
Also at the meet Kyle Bennett of Brampton was a member of the Phoenix Athletics men�s 4 x 100m team that also won gold, along with Arren Young, Brendon Rodney and Aaron Brown. They were clocked in 41.60 with the second-place Ottawa Lions running 43.40.
In the women�s 100m final Martin, competing for the Brampton Track Club, sponsored by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 609 finished seventh in 12.27 while Kerr, also running for BTC, was eighth in 12.33.
Bell-Spence, competing for the G-Force club wound up fifth in the 200m in 24.95. Martin took seventh in 24.09 and Kerr was eighth in 25.37. Lewis, running for Phoenix, was ninth in the 400m in 57.35.
Fatima Jammeh, of BTC took fifth in the 100m hurdles in 15.16.
Martin was also in the long jump where she was eighth in 5.29. Addae Nurse from the Brampton Elite Club finished 10th in the men�s long jump, soaring 6.36m.
In the men�s 400m Joshua Harper of BTC was 11th in 49.83.




Brampton Track Club receives a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation

The Brampton Track Club has received a $100,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The grant is to be used for the purchase of track equipment that will enable BTC to host track meets and gererate income to sustain the club, at the newly constructed Terry Fox Track & Field Stadium located in Chingaucousy Park.

BTC thanks the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their suppport. We greatly appreciate it.

Bingham 5th in 100-metre final; World Youth Championships Day 2 wrap-up
OTTAWA, Ont. - The World Youth Championships continued today in Lille, France. Day two highlights include a fifth place finish in the girls 100-metres, a Canadian youth record in the boys 800-metres semi-final, five personal bests and six athletes advancing into later rounds.
In the 100-metre final Khamica Bingham of Toronto, Ont., finished in 5th in 11.71 seconds. She qualified for the final earlier in the day by way of her second place finish in her semi-final heat in a time of 11.89.
Waterdown, Ont.’s Christian Brennan won her semi-final in the 400-metres clocking in at 53.15 seconds; she will advance to the final tomorrow at 7:05pm local time (1:05pm eastern time).
Brendon Restall of Victoria, B.C., qualified for the 400-metres final by placing 4th in the fastest of the three semi-final heats. He clocked a new personal best of 47.26. The final is tomorrow at 6:50pm local time (12:50pm ET).
In the men’s 800m semi-final Tyler Smith of Wataskiwin, Alta., ran a new Canadian youth record of 1:49.67 but did not advance to the final.
In the morning session Sage Watson of Medicine Hat, Alta., qualified for the 400-metre hurdles final finishing first in her heat in 59.98 seconds. The final takes place Saturday at 5:45pm local time (11:45am ET). London, Ont.’s Alysha Newman also qualified for a final today, she leaped 3.85 metres in the girls pole vault, the final is Saturday at 4:05pm local time (10:05am ET).
Winnipeg, Man.’s Julia Zrinyi advances to the 800-metres semi-final after placing fourth in her heat in a personal best time of 2:08.24.
